Camp Bournedale Info

Camp Bournedale

Dear Parents of soon to be fifth graders,

The time is fast approaching to plan our annual fifth grade trip to Camp Bournedale!

The dates for the trip are Wednesday and Thursday, September 21’st and 22nd. The trip will last two days and one night.  This optional, yet highly recommended and popular trip, is a great way to kick off the new school year!
**A parent informational meeting will be held at the Francis Wyman school auditorium**
At this meeting, Darin Fabrizio, Bournedale Camp Director, will be showing a powerpoint presentation discussing the educational programs and activities provided to all students who attend Camp Bournedale.  Darin will answer any questions you have regarding this trip.  Teachers will also be in attendance to assist with questions.  Date for meeting: Thursday May 26th at Francis Wyman 6pm

The cost of the trip (including transportation) is $175 per child.  

If you would like your child to attend, please return the signed permission slip by Thursday, June 2, 2016, along with a check for $175.
Checks should be made payable to Burlington Public Schools - Camp Bournedale

Due to the timing of the trip in September, we are requiring full payment this spring.  If you absolutely need a refund in the fall (child illness, family emergency, etc) it will be granted.  

If you are interested in being a chaperone, please complete and return the chaperone request form.

Book Fair

Dear Families:

Our class will be attending Pine Glen School’s Scholastic Book Fair the week of May 16-20th, 2016.  Students are invited to browse or buy their books at this time. Wish lists will be provided so that students may record items they may want to purchase and discuss those items with their families. Please note that the Massachusetts sales tax of 6.25% will be applied to all purchases at the Book Fair. The last day to purchase items will be Friday, May 20th.

The fair will be open from 6:00-7:45 pm on Arts and Technology Night, Wednesday May 18th, and families are invited to stop by the fair to browse for summer reading ideas for their students.

If you’d like to shop online, the online fair will be open from May 11th-May 24th. Log on bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/pineglenelementaryschool. All online purchases will be delivered to the PG Library and distributed to students by Miss Carney.

As always, there is no obligation to purchase anything at the book fair. Proceeds from the Book Fair are used to purchase materials for our library.

Cystic Fibrosis Wristband Fundraiser

Student Council is sponsoring this event to support a close friend of one of our students who is affected by this disease.  Bianca Algeri is a seventeen year old girl who was born with Cystic Fibrosis.  She  has formed her own organization, Bianca’s Angels, that helps support research for this disease.  

To support this cause, we are selling purple wristbands that students can buy from their homeroom teacher.  

Where can you buy them?
Students can get wristbands from their homeroom teacher on Monday, May 9-Friday, May 13th.  Each wristband is $2.  All funds will be donated to Bianca’s Angels, so additional donations are welcome!

Meet Bianca!
Students will get to meet Bianca on Friday, May 13th at 1:15 p.m. She will be visiting each individual classroom. The Student Council asks students to wear purple on that day, to show support for this amazing cause.
