Force and Motion

Have you ever built a Flipper?  Friday we were given the task of creating a contraption that would catapult a marshmallow across our classroom.  Using only a bowl, elastics, popsicle sticks, spoons, and tape our groups had to get very creative!  Using the Design Process we first brainstormed and sketched our ideas.  Next we built something with our materials and tested it out.  Using the data we collected, we then improved our design for a second test.  Many of our fourth graders were very successful the second time around.  Ask your child how their catapult worked and how far their marshmallow flew.

Fun was had by all and we learned more about force, motion, and flight!
